About Woodland Beasties

Valerie BurnsValerie Burns
Owner and Director of Woodland Beasties Ltd.

Hello I’m Val! I have been involved in Forest Schools since 2012 where I volunteered at a Forest School playgroup for a year and a half. It was here where my love for the outdoors and my passion to set up my own business really came to light.

2015 was a busy year, in January I enrolled and qualifed as a Level 3 Forest School Practitioner and by September Woodland Beasties was set up! I hold a current ITC Forest School First Aid qualification and an enhanced DBS.

I love seeing the excitement on children’s faces when they do, build or make something for the first time. It’s fantastic to be involved in their enthusiasm for the outdoors.

My favourite thing is seeking out mini-beasts and using natural resources to build and make things.

Owner and Director of Woodland Beasties Ltd

I have been involved in forest schools since 2013 where I volunteered with at a playgroup.  I was inspired by this and undertook my forest schools training in 2015. I am a fully qualified level 3 Forest Schools Practitioner, have an enhanced DBS and also have my ITC Forest School First Aid qualification.

Growing up in Canada, the wilderness was my playground.  I spent hours everyday outside playing with my brothers and sister, finding new adventures and creating imaginary worlds. Being outdoors and having the freedom to explore has so many advantages and I wanted to find a way to bring that to others. Setting up Woodland Beasties has been an adventure in itself and has given me the chance to help foster a love of the outdoors in others.
